Maude in preschool, her 4th birthday and halloween

There is a lot to catch up on.  Maude started preschool at the beginning of October and loves it.  She feels so grown up going to her own school and gets to be in a carpool with 3 buys from church.  She is very social and so preschool is a dream come true.

We have awesome pumpkin patches here in Oregon.  I got to go on a field trip with Julien to the pumpkin patch and we had a great time.

Maude also celebrated her 4th birthday on October 20th.  She got to have a party with her buddies.  They dressed up and got to smash our homemade paper mache pumpkin pinata.  It was so much fun.

Halloween was crazy fun too.  I got to help at two school parties.  Julien and Lauren both got to dress up at school and celebrate with their friends.  That night the rain stopped and we got to trick or treat with our cousins Colevin and Quincy who were the cutest hobbits I have ever seen.  Lauren was a black cat, Julien was Indiana Jones and Maude was Little Red Riding Hood.  We had a blast and wish we could have seen all of you.

Lundberg Quotes of the Day

Lauren:  "Why are you wearing a boy's shirt?  Is that dad's shirt?  It looks wierd"  (as I am on my way to an important meeting)

Julien:  "I want to snuggle with you Mama"

Maude:  "You are the best mom in the world."  (Can I get that in writing?)

My Babies Off to School

The day has finally arrived.  Yesterday was Lauren's first day of school and Julien started today.  They were so excited and a little nervous.  I had a mix of emotions including nervousness, nausea, sadness and then joy as I drove off listening to Michael Jackson's Beat It with Maude rocking out in the back seat.  We begin a new chapter in our lives today.  Now what?

The Oddities in Our Garden

Well, I just picked these today and they are definitely odd.  They are supposed to be a round normal looking tomato but they turned out a little different.  It is as though too many tomatoes competed for the same spot and they all fused together.  They are tasty though.  I love a fresh garden tomato.

My first blog

So, it is Labor Day and I thought I would begin the day by creating a blog for me and the familia.  We have had many adventures recently and I am cheating out all the family and friends if I don't start sharing.  We are busy as bees and we love it like that.  School starts tomorrow and thus a new chapter in life.  Lauren starts second grade and Julien starts all day kindergarten.  It will just be me and Maude hanging out.  I am pretty fond of the idea.  But, I get sad too when I think that Julien is old enough to make the leap.  I'm sure I will get over it soon.

We have a new addition to our family, a rat terrier named Trixie.  I thought we were done with animals for a while, but Trixie has stolen our hearts.  She is still a puppy, we got her at 8 weeks.  Lauren and I were selling Munchies (cookies) at the farmer's market in Sherwood Or.  There were puppies for sale.  Lauren spent the whole morning holding the puppies and falling in love.  A woman approached my tent and asked if she could please buy Lauren the dog.  It cost $250.  I didn't know what to say, but I did know that this woman was being very generous and Lauren would be beyond stoked.  So, we now have a dog and a great story to go with it.

Autumn is on its way, the leaves are already changing and the air is  getting crisper.  Our summer this year has been short.  Good thing I can visit the sunshine when I visit the family in AZ.  Until next time......
